Caleb pictures

We went to see Mr Caleb this evening. He is the tiniest little thing and just as cute as a button! I did find out that he is 19 and 3/4 inches and was born at 5:12pm. He is just soooooo little! Mom and baby should be going home tomorrow. Here our some pictures of this sweet baby.

Uncle James, big cousin Bethany, and Caleb Bethany was so cute with the baby. She just kept touching his little hands. It's so weird to see Bethany as the big cousin. It just now hit me that she was the baby on both sides until now. Aaaah!
Megan with some ducks. James went outside Thursday night and these ducks were in our front yard. This is about as close as Megan ever got to them.

This is Bethany last week with her "powdered dougnut face". Isn't she cute!?!
I just wanted to post some pictures before we left tomorrow....

HE'S HEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRE!

We are so excited! Caleb Josiah Hochdorf has made his entrance into the world! He was born somewhere around 5:30! He weighs a WHOPPING 6 pounds 12 ounces. He has lots of hair and kind of looks like his big brother Joshua. Mom and Caleb are doing well. That is really about all I know. Will post more when I find out.

Siblings

I saw this picture on the Isbell/Anderson blog. It was so cute, I thought I'd post it here. For those of you who don't know, that's my dad and his siblings. I love them all so much and can't wait to see them in 5 days!

I am LEGAL!

As you all may know, I lost my wallet about 7 or so months ago. I have had no driver's license and no social security card since then. I KNOW I should not have my social security card in my wallet, it was stupid and I have learned my lesson. I also know I should have done all of this months ago. So I finally went down to the social security office today to see what I could do. I had my birth certificate, voter's card, bills, school records, title to my car, canceled checks, etc.... All with my name on them, some even had my social security number on it. Were any of those acceptable? No, but they would accept my health insurance card that doesn't even have my name on it. What!?! You won't accept things with my name and number on it, but you will accept something without my name on it? Our government sure is messed up. Whatever, I just wanted my card. So I left with a "proof of ss #" and a letter stating I would have my card in 2 weeks. I should mention a kind, sweet lady that was sitting next to me there. She had an extra ticket because the previous person with that number had to leave. It was 6 numbers ahead of mine, so I gladly accepted. It saved me about 30 minutes of sitting and waiting and corralling the girls. I also passed on my number to someone before I left. I'm sure others weren't so happy about this "sharing". We were then off to lunch, then to the DMV. We got to the DMV and it was far less crowded than I have ever seen it. The officer said that 5 minutes before we got there it was empty. We had all come at once. So I stood in line and got my "number". We waited about 15 minutes before being called back. During our wait my oldest daughter managed to officially embarass me. There was a guy sitting behind us with long hair. She points and yells "Mom, he's got girl hair!". I pulled her hand down and told her not to point. As soon as I let go, she was pointing again. I grabbed that little finger and gave her a lecture about not pointing and why it's rude. I told her that any comments she needed to make about others she had to whisper to me from now on. I held on to that finger for a while to make sure it didn't pop up again. She seemed to understand, but it was still embarassing. So we finally have our number called and five minutes later we are out the door, temporary driver's license in hand! WOOOOOHOOOOO! I don't have to cringe every time I pass a cop now. Why did it take so long? I guess I am just not too fond of the dmv, plus I wasn't sure how to go about getting the right documentation. A friend of mine who had been through getting her stuff replaced told me exactly what I needed to do. It was definitely an interesting day..... hope yours was good!

Pinches and Scratches....

We met James for lunch today at McDonald's. James had to leave and go back to work, but I stayed and let the girls play. They had both crawled to the top of the playplace and were playing with another little boy and girl. I could hear Megan talking in her "bossy" voice but could not hear what she was saying. The other kids' mom was watching too and she kind of laughed. I asked if everything was okay since I couldn't hear what Megan was saying. She said everything was fine, but Megan had just said "That's my little sister. Stay away from her, she pinches and scratches." I laughed and then said, "we are working on that. I guess she just wanted to warn them." I have been chuckling about it ever since....

GOOD NEWS! Still having a hard time believing it....

Reader beware, this is kind of shocking news....... We are going to be an aunt and uncle AGAIN. We got a call from James' brother Jared tonight and THEY ARE EXPECTING A BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have been married almost 8 years now and we were beginning to think they were never going to have any children. So we are very excited to be welcoming a new Morton later this year. She is 8 weeks along and has been very sick. That's the only details James gave me. Guess I will have to call Grammy tomorrow and get the rest of the scoop. If they follow the Morton patern, it will be a girl. Please keep Jared, Ann, and Baby Morton in your prayers!

One (or two) of THOSE days.....

This picture sums up the mood at our house. Nothing seems to be going right. :( Poor James got up yesterday and was going to change the tags on the car "real quick" before he went to work. Several trips into the house and several tools later, he got it done. Then he thought he had a dentist appt, but turned out it was the 16th. He needed to do a "webinar" at lunch but couldn't get it to download. So since he had nothing to do at lunch he thought he would go get his check from JH. Well he couldn't get in touch with the lady, so he still doesn't have his check. I had to deal with the dumb Army man who was NO help, people parked weird, and various other things. The rest of the day wasn't any better. Then on the way to church last night the car stalled right before we turned into the church parking lot. It was POURING rain, so we called one of our elders. He was sending someone to help, but the car started and after a couple of tries got it into the parking lot and into a parking spot. So we had to run in and we all got soaked. We ended up having to leave the van at church. Then to top our day off, Bethany broke one of my living room lamps. So we went to bed thinking today would be a better day. So I get up this morning and am SLEEPY. I just couldn't seem to wake up, plus BK was in a bad mood. Other than Bethany being grumpy, the day wasn't too bad until 3:00 when I realized my phone wasn't working and I couldn't find my cell phone. *Can you see me rolling my eyes* I did manage to get the bills paid, that never puts anyone in a good mood, but I did get 2 medical bills paid off. YEAH! James dad came by tonight to fix our plumbing problem, that didn't get fixed either. He is coming back tomorrow. So on top of all of this crazy stuff, I decide to make choc. chip cookies. So I get them all mixed together and Bethany decides to "help". She is standing on her little chair by me and she reaches up and dumps a bunch of baking soda in..... so I added a little more of everything, but they are still not very good. I JUST WANTED A COOKIE!!! Oh well, I guess my pity party is over now, maybe tomorrow will be a better day.............................

Tags, Laundry Mat, a Movie, and Long John Silvers....

We have been busy the last couple of days. Yesterday we went to get tags for the Accord and came home with tags and 2 new license plates. Seems that every 7 years in Texas you have to have new plates (I can't believe we've had that car that long). Just that many more numbers floating around in my head, ugggh! Luckily they do not charge you for this "service". After we got our new tags (and plates), the girls and I went to the laundry mat. I did not want to deal with soaked carpet and a broken timer on the dryer (still rolling my eyes on that one). In a way it was nice, I did 12 loads in 3 hours. But mostly it was C-R-A-Z-Y! I told James I would not do it again with the girls. It was too hard to try to watch them and get it all done. Hopefully James' dad will be here in a day or so to at least fix the plumbing problem. After my long day in line gettting tags and doing laundry, I sat down to a nice movie at the theater. A couple of us girls decided to go to the 50 cent movies. It was nice to sit down, relax, and watch a movie without being interrupted. I really needed a girls night. We went to see Music and Lyrics with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. It was a cute girlie movie, but I know James wouldn't have liked it much.
On to today..... James came over here in our area to pick up his last check from JH. The lady who has his check wasn't around, so he decided to come get us for lunch. We went to Long John Silver's.... On our way in Megan hit her toe with the door and got a nice little cut. Nothing major, but it needed a band-aid. Of course I didn't have one, so I asked if they would give us one. The manager came out and started to give us a lecture about letting the children run and play.... she wasn't running or playing, she was just opening the door. He was so concerned we were going to sue him. haha I could use the money, but it was just a little cut that needed a little band-aid. They fell all over themselves to help us with whatever we needed. It was kind of funny. I told James we should have at least gotten some free food out of it. The manager kept coming back and asking if she was okay, I finally told him she was fine and if her toe fell off then he would definitely hear from us, otherwise don't worry. HAHAHA I think she is going to survive.
I'm off now to pick up the junk laying around my house, vacuum, and scrub the bathrooms. At least the laundry is done! I hope you all have a great day! ~Amanda
