Megan's School Picture 2009-2010

Here is Megan's school picture for this year. She is 1/4 of the way through with 2nd grade. We got her first report card today, and she is doing great. She is right on track. She is struggling a little bit with math, but she has improved tremendously already. She loves her teacher and her teacher loves her. Her teacher said that everyone likes Megan. She does the right thing just because she is supposed to, not because she is going to be rewarded. We are so VERY proud of her!!!

Just because I like to compare...

You did what!?!?!?!

One saturday morning a couple of weeks ago we were up and getting dressed for a fun day at the mall. James was going to go practice shooting with Tom and we were meeting Rachael and some others at the mall. The girls had had their baths, gotten dressed and we were almost ready to go. I looked at Miss Bethany and thought "her hair looks funny, guess I shouldn't have let it dry naturally". I went on about my business. A few minutes later I looked at her again and thought "her bangs look kind of funny, need to get them trimmed soon". I said something about her hair and she "I cut my hair and my bangs". "YOU SURE DID!" I was a little shocked and VERY unhappy with her. She had been playing with her scissors for a few days and I knew I should have put them up. I gave her a little lecture about cutting her own hair and tried not to lose it! She got a trim later that day and is still cute as a button. I am so thankful she didn't cut it to the scalp or something crazy like that, and that we were able to just "trim" it up. She only lost about 4 inches. She later told me that she wanted her hair to be just like Kyndal's. Funny thing is, Kyndal wants her hair to grow out long like Bethany's. Guess they will meet in the middle. HAHA

First Day of School

Megan started SECOND GRADE this year! She is so excited and is loving it! It is so hard to believe that our babies are growing up so fast. I don't think any of us are ever prepared for the swiftness of their little lives. Anyway, here are a couple of pictures from the first day of school. Isn't she just TOO cute!?!

Truth

Megan and Bethany were playing house today. They both wanted to be the mommy so they worked it out so they were both mommies and they were friends. I overheard the following:

Megan: Hi, Mommy.
Bethany: Hi, Mommy. Come to my house.
Megan: Is your house messy?
Bethany: Yeah, my kids messed it up.

TOO FUNNY and TOO TRUE! At least they know how this house really gets messy!

Megan and Ethan

I thought this was such a sweet picture. Could this be my future son-in-law? I guess only time will tell....

Megan 7 year checkup

Okay so she's 7 years 2 months and 12 days, but it's an easy way to meet a new doctor. Here's the stats... She is 49 pounds, 47 and 1/4 inches tall. She is in the 36th percentile for weight and 28th for height. The doctor tried to tell me she was "pudgey". WHAT!?! Have you taken a glance at my child? She is not "pudgey". In my most controlled mommy voice I disagreed with her. She tried to argue with me a little, but I insisted she was NOT fat. The doctor was saying her BMI was 90. So we started going over what the nurse had written down.....weight 59....oops, she only weighs 49. So after some recalculation her BMI was 47....much better. If the doctor had taken a moment to look at my daughter before she started telling me we needed to start watching how much she eats, she would have seen there must have been a mistake. The rest of the visit wasn't much better. I wasn't too impressed with this doctor, so we will keep looking. There are too many doctors up here to settle for one I don't really care for. I need a doctor who will take their time and not make me feel like we are being rushed through. Maybe we will have better luck next time.

My Sweet Meggie

I was lovingly presented with this wonderful letter from Megan. Since it was on a white-erase board I had to take a picture to keep.
~I love you so much more than that my sweet Megan D!

Double Snag

Megan lost her second tooth on July 25th last year. Both teeth have come in and she has lost the ones beside them. The top two are slightly loose now. Won't be long before I'll be posting another toothless picture.

Miniature Golf

Here are the girls playing glow-in-the-dark miniature golf at the mall in Bartlesville. These were taken sometime last August! It was hard to get a good picture with the flourescent lights and glowy stuff...

Pies and Breads

We are going to a "Spring Party" next weekend. They are having a pie baking contest, bread baking contest, and a jelly & jams contest. Forget the jelly and jam, I wouldn't have a clue where to begin. The pies and bread I can probably handle. Send me you favorite pie and bread recipes and we'll see if they come out on top!!!!

So where have I been in the last year or so..... Well we've had a lot going on. We moved to OK in Oct of 07. James was preaching in Nowata. We sold our house in Plano and bought a house in "the big city". We did lots of work on that house. Textured walls and painted about 80% of the inside including the kitchen cabinets. We had the hardwood floors refinished in the living and dining room, as well as had new carpet installed. We also ripped out the back bathroom and replaced all of the tile, walls, and the sink. We worked hard. Megan was in school and doing great. Then last summer we got thrown a major curveball. The church in Nowata told James they were running out of money (they originally told us they could support him for at least 2 years). Just a few days after that, James got a call out of the blue from a company in McKinney that wanted to interview him. Long story short, here I sit in McKinney. We couldn't afford living in both places, so James stayed with friends while I stayed up there. I ended up moving in with Mom and Dad for a while. James came to see us every weekend, but it sure was hard. We put Megan in school in Bartlesville for a little while as well. I think that switch was really hard on her in addition to all of the other changes. Being a part was hard on our family, so after Christmas we moved in with some friends for a little while. Then last week we moved in to our own little place. We are renting the upper floor of a friend's house. It is basically a two bedroom apartment. With all of the moving around we knew we would be doing and all of the other stresses, we decided to homeschool Megan. We are getting through it together, but we are looking at other options for next year. Not sure what we will do yet. Somewhere in all of that, Bethany turned THREE! She is such an adventurous little girl and is always up to something. She likes to run and jump and play at the park. She also likes girly things (dolls, kitchens, barbies, princesses, etc). Bethany had a Dora splash party for her birthday. We bought a little pool and had a water balloon fight. It was lots of fun. She has already informed us that she wants a Cinderella party next time. Megan turned 7 in January. Megan is so much calmer and quieter than her sister, usually. She loves to read anything and every thing. She is reading Black Beauty right now. She also likes to ride her bike and go to the park. She is about 3/4 of the way done with 1st grade. She is so smart and learns so quickly. Of course she also likes all things girly and pink. For her 7th birthday we had a snow party. I hung snow flakes from the ceiling and everything. We also had fake snow to play with and a "snowball fight". She is already requesting another snow party....
We are slowly trying to work our way back into being a family. It has taken some readjusting, but we are doing okay. If I ever get all of our boxes unpacked, it will be a day to celebrate. :) Please pray for our house in Nowata to sell soon. It is a big financial burden for us. Also please pray that we will find the right church to work with. We are having a hard time making that decision. I am going to work on getting some pictures on here soon, so stay tuned. I will also update with new things and old things as I remember them. Thanks for hanging in there with me! I love you all! ~Amanda

Bethany's Owie

So I have heard from several of you that I have been a bad blogger. SHAME ON ME!!! I thought I would start by letting you all know what happened yesterday. As you may know, we have moved back to Texas. We have been unpacking boxes and the house is a MESS! So with this mess comes packing paper and boxes. Ms Bethany was playing and went to turn around to get something and slipped on some packing paper. She fell and hit her head HARD on the end table resulting in a little gap in the back of her head. Two staples and $40 copay later, she is on the mend. She was really tough and didn't cry too much. She was a real trooper in wearing her head bandage for almost 24 hours without taking it off. They were going to give her a purple wrap, but she let them know that green and yellow are her favorite colors. So, they gladly switched to a green wrap. She is going to survive and no one will ever see the scar as long as she doesn't ever shave her head. :)

Bethany with her "magical head wrap", the doctor said it would give her "super powers" Just what Bethany needs! :)
Megan and Bethany waking up this morning. I just thought they were cute!
Tylenol with codeine sure makes a girl tired...

Will post more when I get it all back togehter.
